THIIIRD magazine, issue 7, Dis/comfort
What defines comfort? Is it the warmth of security, the ease of familiarity? And what about discomfort—does it only bring tension, challenge, and unease? In the Dis/comfort issue, we unravel the complex dance between these opposing forces, exploring how they shape our emotional landscapes and lived experiences. From grief and trauma to celebration and healing, we investigate how comfort and discomfort coexist, with often blurred lines between them. Through themes of space, body, and identity, we question how these states influence our understanding of autonomy, the uncanny, and our place in the world. Join us as we navigate the delicate balance of finding solace in discomfort and growth in ease.
This issue contains a gorgeous article, "‘What Motherhood Taught Me About the Dichotomy of the Perfect Body’ by Gugu Khamalo. PLUS, a photo editorial, ‘After The Flood’ (Creative Director, Rohmarra Kerr, Photographer, Kid Circus) showcasing new motherhood: “After the Flood is an interpretation of a mother’s newfound grace and survival instincts kicking in after the life-changing event of giving birth”.
PLUS: essays on disability, neurodivergence and fungal kin
